Review Generation
Review generation is the steady, everyday work of asking real customers to review your business, at the right moment and in a way that follows the platforms’ rules. Our review generation service builds that habit into how your business already runs, so new reviews arrive every month instead of in rare bursts. At OnlyaClick it is part of our reputation management services.
You get a simple, compliant request process that every customer goes through, not just the ones you expect to be happy.

What Review Generation Is
Most satisfied customers never leave a review because nobody asked them, or because they were asked a week later when the moment had passed. Review generation fixes the asking: a short request, sent soon after the job is done, with a direct link that opens the review form on your profile. Google’s own guidance for business owners suggests exactly this, asking customers to visit a Google link or scan a QR code.
What it is not: buying reviews, writing them, or filtering out unhappy customers before they reach the review page. Those shortcuts break platform policy and federal rules, and we do not use them.
Who It Is For
Local service businesses, medical and wellness practices, law firms, restaurants and retailers whose customers check reviews before they call. It suits a business with plenty of happy customers and very few recent reviews, a business whose newest review is months old, and a business with several locations where some profiles get reviews and others are quiet.
It is also a fit for a business that has been asking in ways that now carry risk, such as offering a discount for a review or sending only its favorite customers to Google.
What the Engagement Includes
A review baseline
A record of where you stand today on Google and the other sites that matter in your industry: review count, average rating, how recent the newest review is, and how many reviews have no reply.
Review links and QR codes
Direct review links for each location, plus printable QR codes for counters, receipts and service paperwork.
Request messages and timing
Short text and email requests written in your voice, one gentle reminder, and a send time tied to the moment the work is finished, such as a closed job, a completed appointment or a delivered order.
A compliance check
Every request is checked against the rules covered below: no incentives on Google, no gating, no staff quotas, and no reviews from employees or relatives without disclosure. We do not give legal advice; we keep the process inside the published rules.
Staff training
A one-page guide for the people who talk to customers, covering how to ask in person and what not to say.
Monthly reporting
Requests sent, new reviews received by platform and location, and any themes that keep coming up in what customers write.
How It Works, Step by Step
1. Consultation. We learn how a typical job or visit ends, where customer contact details live, and how you ask for reviews today.
2. Baseline. We record your current reviews on each platform and location, so progress is measured against real starting numbers.
3. Approve. You review the messages, the timing and the staff guide before anything is sent.
4. Launch. We connect the requests to your booking, invoicing or CRM system where possible, test them on our own phones and inboxes, and turn them on.
5. Review and adjust. Each month we look at which messages and send times get responses, adjust them, and pass along anything customers raise that your team should know about.
How to Measure the Results
New reviews per month: counted by location and platform and compared with your baseline. Steady monthly reviews matter more than a one-time spike.
Request response: the share of customers who were asked and went on to leave a review, which tells us whether the message and timing are working.
Recency: how many days old your newest review is on each profile. A recent review shows a prospect the business is active.
Calls and requests from your profile: the actions Google reports for your Business Profile, read alongside review growth over the same months.
We do not promise a star rating. Because every customer is asked, your rating reflects the service you deliver, and the reviews themselves become useful feedback for your team.
How It Connects to Our Other Services
Review generation is part of our reputation management services. It brings in new reviews; Google Business Profile management handles replying to them and keeping the rest of the profile current. Reviews are one part of how a business shows up in local results, so the work fits alongside our local SEO services. For businesses that prefer to ask by text, requests can run through the same system as our text message marketing, sent only to customers who have agreed to receive texts.
Review Generation Questions
Can we offer customers a discount in exchange for a review?
Not for Google reviews. Google’s review policy says businesses may not offer incentives such as payment, discounts or free goods or services in exchange for posting a review. The FTC’s rule on consumer reviews, in effect since October 21, 2024, separately bars incentives that are conditioned on the review being positive or negative. We simply ask, with no reward attached.
Can we send only our happy customers to Google?
No. This practice, often called review gating, is against Google’s policy, which says businesses may not discourage negative reviews or selectively ask for positive ones. Every customer gets the same request. If someone had a poor experience, a prompt and personal reply to their review usually does more for your reputation than trying to keep it off the page.
Can our employees or family members leave reviews?
On Google, no. Its policy treats reviews based on a conflict of interest, including current or former employment, as prohibited. Under the FTC rule, reviews from company insiders must clearly disclose the relationship. Our requests go to customers only.
