Website Care Plans and Maintenance
A website care plan is ongoing maintenance for your business website: keeping WordPress, its theme and its plugins up to date, taking backups that can actually be restored, watching for downtime and security problems, and making the small content changes that pile up every month. At OnlyaClick it is part of our website development services.
You get a site that stays current and working, one place to send change requests, and a monthly report of everything we did.

What a Website Care Plan Is
A website is not finished on launch day. WordPress, themes and plugins release updates throughout the year, many of them security fixes. Hosting companies retire old PHP versions. A contact form stops sending when an email setting changes. One plugin update conflicts with another and a page breaks quietly. None of this is visible until a customer mentions it, or simply stops calling.
A care plan puts someone in charge of those jobs on a schedule. Updates are tested before they reach your live site, backups are stored away from your server, and problems are caught by monitoring rather than by your customers. It is the same ongoing support we provide after building a site, offered as a plan you can take on its own, whoever built your website.
Who It Is For
Businesses with a WordPress website and nobody on staff whose job is to look after it: service companies, law firms, medical and wellness practices, restaurants, contractors, and stores running WooCommerce. It fits owners whose site was built years ago and whose plugins have not been touched since, businesses whose web designer has moved on, and companies that depend on the site for calls, bookings or orders and cannot afford a week of it being broken.
If your site runs on a hosted builder rather than WordPress, the platform handles much of the update work itself. We will tell you during the consultation whether a plan would add anything for you.
What the Plan Includes
Updates, tested first
WordPress, theme and plugin updates applied on a regular schedule, tried on a staging copy where your host allows it, and checked on your key pages and forms once they are live. Plugins their developers have abandoned are flagged with a suggested replacement.
Backups that can be restored
Scheduled backups of your files and database, stored off the server, with a test restore so we know a backup works before the day you need it.
Uptime and security monitoring
Uptime checks that alert us when the site goes down, malware scanning, protection on the login page, and a periodic review of who holds administrator access. If a scan finds a problem, we tell you what it is and clean it up.
Content edits and small fixes
A monthly allowance of hours for the changes every business needs: new staff photos, updated hours, a new service added to a page, a seasonal banner, a broken link. You send the request and we make the change.
A monthly report
What was updated, when the last backups ran, any downtime or security events, the edits we made, and anything we recommend that needs a decision from you.
How It Works, Step by Step
1. Consultation. We learn how the site is built, where it is hosted, who has access, and which pages, forms and integrations your business depends on.
2. Onboarding check. Before we change anything, we take a full backup, record the versions of WordPress, PHP, the theme and every plugin, and list whatever is out of date or no longer supported.
3. Catch-up work. A site that has gone a long time without updates is brought current carefully, one group of updates at a time, with checks in between.
4. Monthly routine. Updates, backups, monitoring and your edit requests run on a set schedule, and urgent problems such as the site being down are handled as soon as we see them.
5. Report and review. Each month you receive the report, and we raise anything that needs your decision, such as a plugin that should be replaced or a hosting plan that no longer fits the site.
How to Measure the Results
Uptime: how much of the month the site was reachable, taken from the monitoring log, and how quickly any outage was resolved.
Software status: whether WordPress, PHP, the theme and each plugin are on supported versions at the end of the month, and which updates were applied.
Recovery readiness: the date of the last successful backup and the last tested restore.
Leads still arriving: forms, call tracking and checkout tested after every round of updates, because the point of maintenance is that enquiries and orders keep coming in. We also log how many edit requests you sent and how long each one took.
We do not promise that a site will never have a problem. Software changes and servers fail. What a care plan changes is how quickly a problem is found, and how little you lose when it happens.
How It Connects to Our Other Services
Website care plans are part of our website development services. When a site is slow, WordPress speed optimization finds and fixes the causes, and a care plan keeps those gains from wearing off as new plugins and images are added. Before a redesign or a move to a new host, website migration SEO protects the search visibility the site already has. And because an update can quietly break a form or a tracking tag, our checks cover the measurement set up through GA4 and conversion tracking, so your reports stay accurate.
Website Maintenance Questions
Can we still make our own changes to the website?
Yes. You keep full access to your site. Let us know when you or your team plan larger changes, so updates and backups are scheduled around them and we know what changed if something later looks different.
What happens if an update breaks something?
We roll back the plugin that caused it or restore from the backup taken before the update, then find out why it failed and apply the update again once it is safe. You hear about it from us instead of finding it yourself.
What if our site has not been updated in years?
We start with the onboarding check and bring the site current in stages, with a backup before each stage. If part of the site cannot be updated safely, such as a theme that is no longer supported, we explain the options and what each one involves before doing anything.
