Local Services Ads Management: Pay for Leads, Not Clicks
Local Services Ads are the Google listings that show a business name, star rating, hours and a Google Verified badge for searches such as “plumber near me” or “family lawyer.” Unlike a standard search ad, you pay for a lead, such as a phone call or a message, instead of a click. At OnlyaClick, Local Services Ads management is part of our PPC services: we handle the setup, the verification paperwork, the budget, the lead review and the reporting.
The account stays in your name. You see every lead, every charge and every credit, and we explain each change we make.

What Local Services Ads Are
Local Services Ads are a Google ad format for businesses that serve customers in a defined area. Each ad opens a profile with your services, service area, hours, reviews and the verification checks your business has passed. Since October 2025 those checks appear under a single Google Verified badge, which replaced the older Google Guaranteed and Google Screened labels. Depending on your category and location, verification can include license checks, proof of insurance and background checks run by third party screening companies.
The ads appear on Google Search and Google Maps. Google is also moving Local Services Ads into the main Google Ads platform as Performance Max campaigns with pay per lead goals, starting with some U.S. home service categories in August 2026 and widening from there. Google says advertisers still pay only for valid leads and keep their verified status. We manage accounts in either setup and handle the move when your account is migrated.
Who Local Services Ads Are For
They suit businesses whose customers call before they buy and who work within a set area: plumbers, HVAC and electrical contractors, roofers, cleaners, pest control and moving companies, and professional services such as law firms in eligible practice areas. They work best when someone answers the phone during your listed hours, because how quickly you respond to leads is one of the things Google weighs when it ranks profiles.
What the Management Includes
Eligibility check and profile setup
We confirm your category is offered where you work, then build the profile with the job types you actually want, an accurate service area, real business hours and photos of your team and work.
Verification support
We tell you which license, insurance and business documents your category requires, help you submit them, and follow each check until it clears. Stalled verification is the most common reason a new account never starts running.
Budget and bidding
We set the budget from what a booked job is worth to you, not from a generic figure, and adjust it as we learn which job types and areas turn into paying customers.
Lead review and credits
We review leads every week, mark the ones that became booked jobs, and rate poor ones through Google’s lead feedback. Google now screens leads automatically and credits charged leads it later judges to be low quality, usually within 30 days, so we check that those credits actually reach your balance.
Reviews and profile quality
Google ranks Local Services Ads on your bid and on profile quality, which includes your rating, number of reviews, response time, photos and completed verification checks. We keep the profile current and set up a simple way to ask finished customers for a review.
How It Works, Step by Step
1. Consultation. We learn your services, the area you cover, your average job value, and who answers calls and messages.
2. Eligibility and verification. We confirm the category is available, open or take over the account in your name, and work through the screening checks with you.
3. Profile build and launch. Job types, service area, hours, photos and budget are set, and the ads go live once verification is complete.
4. Weekly lead review. We go through new leads, note which were booked, and trim job types or areas that bring calls you cannot use.
5. Monthly report and adjustments. A plain summary of spend, leads, credits and booked jobs, with the budget and targeting changes we recommend for the next month.
How to Measure the Results
Cost per lead: total spend divided by charged leads, after credits are applied.
Booked jobs and cost per booked job: how many leads became paid work, and what each one cost compared with your average job value. This is the number that decides whether the budget should grow.
Response time and missed calls: how fast leads get an answer, since slow replies lose customers and affect ranking.
Reviews: the count and average rating on your profile, month over month.
Placement is decided by Google in an auction and lead volume depends on how many people search for your services in your area, so we do not promise a set number of leads or a top position.
How It Connects to Our Other Services
Local Services Ads are one part of our PPC services. They pair naturally with local SEO and Google Business Profile management, which work on the free map listings that often appear just below the ads, so you are visible in both places. Because reviews feed into how your ads rank, our reputation management team helps you collect and respond to them in a steady, honest way.
Local Services Ads Questions
How are Local Services Ads different from regular Google search ads?
With a regular search ad you choose keywords, write the ad and pay for each click to your website. With Local Services Ads you pay for a valid lead, such as a call or message, and Google matches your profile to searches based on the job types and service area you select, showing your rating and verification status instead of ad copy.
What does a business need to get verified?
It depends on your category and location. Google may check business and owner licenses, require insurance of a set type and amount, and run background checks on the owner and sometimes on staff who visit customers. Once the required checks are complete, your profile shows the Google Verified badge.
Do I pay for leads that are spam or outside my service area?
Google assesses each lead when it arrives and does not charge for ones it judges invalid. Charged leads are reassessed over time, and credits for low quality leads are usually applied within 30 days. We review your leads each week, send feedback to Google, and keep job types and service areas tight so fewer unusable leads come in.
